  • #What to do in Barcelona in 3 days: explore the city from Poblenou
    November 02, 2026

Discover Barcelona in 3 days with an itinerary through Poblenou, Bogatell Beach, Gaudí’s architecture and the old town. Make Durlet Apartments your base for exploring the city.

Looking for things to do in Barcelona in 3 days, with time for both sightseeing and the sea? Staying in Poblenou lets you combine beach walks, Modernist architecture and the streets of the old town.

At Durlet Apartments, we have put together an itinerary for exploring Barcelona with Poblenou as your base. Spend three days discovering some of the city’s best-known sights, enjoying the neighbourhood and returning to your apartment with time to relax.

Your Barcelona itinerary for 3 days

    • Day 1: Rambla del Poblenou, Bogatell Beach and the seafront promenade.

    • Day 2: Sagrada Família, the Eixample district and Passeig de Gràcia.

    • Day 3: The Gothic Quarter, El Born and a return along the coast.

This itinerary is designed for three full days. If you arrive in the afternoon or need to leave early on your last day, you can shorten the coastal walk or choose just one indoor attraction.

Day 1. Discover Poblenou and Barcelona’s beaches

    Start on Rambla del Poblenou

Spend your first morning getting to know the neighbourhood where you are staying. Rambla del Poblenou is a good place to have breakfast, sit on a café terrace and start exploring the surrounding streets. Along the way, you will find shops, cafés and buildings alongside reminders of this part of Barcelona’s industrial past.

Head towards Plaça Prim and explore Carrer del Taulat and Carrer de Marià Aguiló. Keep this first part of the day flexible, stopping wherever you like and getting familiar with places you may want to return to during your stay.

    Walk to Bogatell Beach

Continue towards the sea to discover Bogatell Beach, between Nova Icària and Mar Bella beaches. The seafront promenade lets you extend your walk along the coast: towards Mar Bella to explore more of Poblenou’s waterfront, or towards Port Olímpic in the opposite direction.

During the warmer months, set aside part of the day for the beach. In autumn and winter, enjoy a walk beside the Mediterranean and a break in the sunshine when the weather allows.

End the day near your apartment

On your first evening, return to the neighbourhood and choose somewhere for dinner on Rambla del Poblenou or the surrounding streets. You can also make use of your apartment’s kitchen and prepare a meal after your walk.

Keeping this day flexible lets you ease into your city break without too much travelling between sights.

Day 2. Visit the Sagrada Família and Passeig de Gràcia

Spend the morning at the Sagrada Família

Your second day focuses on Gaudí’s architecture. Start at the Sagrada Família and allow time to admire its façades before going inside. Once inside, look up at the towering columns and notice how the light changes as it passes through the stained-glass windows.

If you would like to visit the interior, book your ticket in advance on the official Sagrada Família website and plan your morning around your booking. Allow enough time for the journey and entry: your ticket is valid for a specific time slot.

Getting there from Poblenou: take the L4 metro to Verdaguer and change to the L5 for Sagrada Família. Alternatively, get off at Verdaguer and walk the rest of the way. Choose your starting station according to your apartment’s location and check the service before setting off.

Continue through Eixample to Passeig de Gràcia

After your visit, walk through Eixample towards Passeig de Gràcia, stopping for lunch along the way. Here you will find two of Gaudí’s best-known buildings: Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, and Casa Batlló.

You can admire both façades as you walk and choose one building to explore inside. Visiting just one gives you more time to enjoy the area without rushing between bookings.

Explore the different visits on the official websites of La Pedrera and Casa Batlló.

    Return to Poblenou to relax

If you feel like walking further, continue towards Plaça de Catalunya. If you would rather head back to your apartment, take the L4 from Passeig de Gràcia.

After a day of sightseeing, finish with dinner near your accommodation or a short stroll around the neighbourhood.

Day 3. Explore the Gothic Quarter and El Born

Discover the squares and streets of the Gothic Quarter

Start your final day in the old town. From Poblenou, the L4 takes you to Jaume I, a convenient starting point for exploring this part of the city.

Head towards Plaça de Sant Jaume, then continue to Plaça del Rei and the area around Barcelona Cathedral. Combine the main sights with small detours through the neighbourhood’s streets. If you would like to enter the Cathedral or another monument, check its opening hours and entry requirements beforehand.

Head into El Born and towards Santa Maria del Mar

Next, cross Via Laietana and continue into El Born. The area around Santa Maria del Mar and Passeig del Born invites you to keep exploring, with squares, shops and places to stop for lunch.

Leave part of the afternoon free to discover the area. If you would like to include a cultural visit, replace part of the walk with a museum and check availability in advance. This will help keep your final day manageable.

Say goodbye to Barcelona beside the Mediterranean

If you have a full afternoon and feel like a longer walk, continue towards Barceloneta and follow the seafront promenade back towards Poblenou. You can walk sections of the route and use public transport for the rest, depending on your time and energy.

If you need to collect your luggage or leave Barcelona, return directly from the centre. This final coastal walk is optional: leave enough time to organise your departure.

    Getting around Barcelona from Poblenou

For this itinerary, combine walking with the metro. The L4 connects Poblenou with stops including Barceloneta, Jaume I and Passeig de Gràcia, making it useful for visiting the old town and Eixample.

Before each journey, check the maps and travel information from TMB. The most convenient station will depend on your building and destination. Remember to allow time to walk between your apartment, the station and each attraction.

Where to stay to explore Barcelona from Poblenou

If you are looking for an apartment in Barcelona near the beach, Durlet offers different options in Poblenou, giving you the freedom to organise your stay your way.

Durlet Beach is around 200 metres from Bogatell Beach and has a rooftop pool. Durlet Rambla Mar is on Rambla del Poblenou, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Both let you combine sightseeing with time enjoying the neighbourhood.

If you are looking for accommodation for an extended stay, explore Durlet Suites. Discover the features of each building and check the services available before choosing your apartment.
